When I was first diagnosed with balantis XO (balantis xerotica obliterans, also known as male lichen sclerosus) I had already been dealing with some skin problems down south for some time.
The glans of my penis would flare up regularly, usually it looked like some kind of heat rash or eczema. At first I thought it was a yeast infection, because I’d had that in the past and it looked similar. Usually I didn’t even go the doctor, I would just put canesten cream on it (an anti fungal) and it would clear up after a few days. Then some months later, the rash returned.
One day it got particularly bad and I went to see the doc. The rash this time was quite severe. My foreskin usually leaves the very tip of my penis, where the entry to the urethra is, exposed. On that small patch of skin there was no rash, but as I pulled the foreskin back is was extremely red and angry.
My doctor took one look at it and diagnosed me on the spot. Some tests at a later date confirmed the diagnosis.
The first line of treatment prescribed to me was a steroid cream. I used that for a few days, but it was the same as the canesten cream – it cleared up the symptoms for a few days, then the rash just came back. If the steroid cream wasn’t able to eliminate it for good, circumcision was the next recommendation.
That’s when I started scouring the web looking for answers.
Today, my BXO is 90% cured. My sex life is back to normal, my penis skin is a bright, healthy pink again, and I haven’t had the BXO rash return in more than a year. It took a while to get there, but I didn’t need to use steroid creams long term and I didn’t need a circumcision (I was against that at all costs, I love my foreskin!)
One thing that surprised me, however, is how little information there is on the webs about this. Apparently BXO is quite a common condition, yet there is very little research and commentary about it on the web. I decided to make this site to try and bring some clarity to other guys like me suffering from balantis xo/male lichen sclerosus. In these pages I’ve written up everything I’ve learned about the condition and how to heal it. I know how painful it is to not be quite 100% down there – and it can lead to emotional damage that is more significant than I wanted to admit. Hopefully with this site I can help a few other men like myself who are suffering and have nowhere to look.
Luckily, this isn’t actually a complicated subject. While the healing process takes time, it’s really quite simple and not expensive at all. Most things you require can just be bought from your local pharmacy, or even on Amazon.
Along the top of this site there is a menu – these pages contain everything you need to know. In the “What is Balantis XO?” page, I talk about what the disease is and what actually causes it. This will give you some background into why you need to use the treatments I’ve suggested.
The next page is “Healing BXO naturally”. In this page I talk about all the different treatments you can use and how to use them.
Best of luck and wishing you a quick recovery to perfect health!
